Dear Red Rider Families,
At Orrville City Schools, we believe that a child’s mental health is just as important as their academics. With so many students using social media daily, it’s vital that we stay engaged in how these platforms impact their well-being.
Why it matters:
While social media can connect kids with friends and opportunities, too much screen time—or unmonitored use—can increase stress, anxiety, and low self-esteem.
How you can help at home:
· ✔ Check in on what your child is viewing and who they’re interacting with.
· ✔ Set limits on screen time, especially before bed
· ✔ Encourage conversations—let them know it’s safe to share concerns
· ✔ Notice changes in mood, sleep, or friendships that may signal a struggle
Together, as families, schools, and a community, we can help our children use technology in positive and healthy ways, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.
With gratitude,
Dr. David M. Toth
Superintendent, Orrville City Schools
