Let's Go Riders

Dear Orrville Families,

As we cheer on our Red Riders under the Friday night lights, we want to ensure that every game is safe, enjoyable, and fun for all fans. Please take a moment to review these friendly reminders for families, students, and guests:

Orrville fans should enter and exit through the South Gate.

Visiting fans will use the North Gate for entry and exit.

Students and children should remain seated in the stands with their parent or guardian unless visiting the restrooms or concession stand. This helps keep everyone safe and allows all guests to enjoy the game.

After the game, everyone is asked to exit the stadium and return to their vehicles. For safety reasons, no one is permitted on the field until both teams have cleared the area.

Once the opposing team has left the field, our Orrville senior students and parents will be invited to celebrate their Senior Walk under the lights, a special Red Rider tradition!

Thank you for helping us create a positive, family-friendly atmosphere at every event. Let’s continue to show our Red Rider pride by cheering respectfully, supporting our teams, and demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship.

Go Riders! ❤️🖤

Building the Future Together with Red Rider Pride

A Message from Superintendent Dr. David M. Toth

At Orrville City Schools, we believe continuous improvement is part of our Red Rider DNA. Every day, we’re working to build stronger connections, support student success, and ensure our schools remain places where all students thrive. As we move through the 2025 school year, I’d like to share how our strategic plan is guiding our progress in five key areas: Communication, Student Engagement, Academic Achievement, Facilities & Operations, and Community Partnerships.

1. Communication – Staying Connected

We’ve made tremendous strides in how we inform families and our community.

District Newsletters: Three comprehensive print newsletters are mailed annually to keep every Orrville household connected.

Social Media Reach: Our Instagram following has grown to over 650, with more than 160,000 monthly views, while Facebook engagement averages 200,000 monthly impressions.

Digital Upgrades: Our new website, mobile app, and ROOMS communication system make it easy for parents to access real-time updates and classroom information.

Personal Connections: Through my weekly newsletters and our popular Community Coffee Talks, we’re creating open conversations between families and school leadership.

2. Student Engagement – Red Rider Pride in Action

From spirit days to leadership opportunities, we’re building a culture where every student feels connected and proud to be a Red Rider.

Ignite Nation programs at OMS and OHS promote school spirit and belonging.

Rachel’s Challenge and Kindness Clubs teach empathy, respect, and compassion.

Student Leadership & Creativity: Students express their voices through art displays, media projects, and leadership initiatives.

Wellness & Fitness: The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge encourages healthy habits and teamwork for grades 4–8.

Hands-on Learning: Media production opportunities give students valuable communication and technical skills.

3. Academic Achievement – Every Student, Every Day

Academic excellence is our top priority. Through collaboration and innovation, we’re making learning more effective and engaging for all students.

Professional Learning Communities (PLCs): Teachers meet regularly to analyze data and refine instruction.

Technology Integration: Tools like IXL and AI-powered programs personalize learning and accelerate student growth.

Career Pathways: Our work-based learning programs help students connect classroom knowledge to real-world opportunities.

New Math Curriculum: We’ve implemented evidence-based math materials aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards.

Co-Teaching & Inclusion: Staff training and state grant partnerships help us better support diverse learners.

MTSS & WIN Time: “What I Need” blocks at Orrville Elementary and Middle School provide targeted interventions and enrichment.

4. Facilities & Operations—Safe, Modern, and Efficient

We’re committed to maintaining safe, accessible, and updated learning environments.

Safety Enhancements: New Raptor visitor management, secure entry systems, and updated ID badges keep our schools secure.

Accessibility: The ADA-compliant stadium ramp and improved facilities make events more welcoming for everyone.

Infrastructure: Roof repairs and upgraded playgrounds protect and enhance our learning spaces.

Technology Upgrades: New auditorium projectors, sound systems, and Google Workspace integration enhance communication and performance spaces.

5. Community Partnerships—Working Together for Kids

We’re stronger together. Our partnerships extend learning beyond the classroom and strengthen our support network for students.

Health & Wellness: Collaborations with Heartland Foundation, Behavioral Health Services, and the Orrville Police Department ensure physical and emotional safety.

City Collaboration: Joint efforts with the City of Orrville maintain high-quality athletic facilities.

Service & Giving: Students participate in United Way’s Day of Caring, food drives, and Comfy Closets, learning the value of giving back.

Career & Mentorship: Partnerships with OHuddle and Aultman Hospital provide students with mentorship and real-world experience.

Future Teachers: Our partnership with The University of Akron helps prepare the next generation of educators.

Civic Connections: Continued collaboration with the Rotary and Exchange Clubs supports leadership and service.

Celebrating Success

There’s much to celebrate in Orrville City Schools:

96.4% Graduation Rate—among the highest in the region

57.8% Gap Closing at OES—ensuring success for all learners

Significant gains at Orrville High School in College, Career, and Workforce Readiness

Orrville Middle School continues to show strong academic growth and progress

Looking Ahead

We’re proud of our progress, but we know there’s always room to grow. Our next steps include:

Expanding targeted interventions for struggling and special-needs learners

Strengthening gifted education and enrichment opportunities

Continuing our districtwide focus on literacy excellence

Together—with our families, staff, and community—we’re building the future with Red Rider Pride.

“Continuous improvement is part of our Red Rider DNA.”
